Stress is a common occurrence. Learning to manage stress can be the key to overcoming it. The Boone County Chamber of Commerce will host the fall Women Inspiring Women event on Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. at the H.B. Wells Community Center at Lebanon Senior High School.

“The (Women Inspiring Women) group was implemented in 2018, and we had our first event in January,” said Diane Schultz, executive director of BCCC.

The meetings are hosted quarterly and according to Schultz the attendance has grown.

“We’re really addressing resources for women for providing personal and professional development opportunities to advance women throughout Boone County,” Schultz said.

The Oct. 1 event titled “The Funny Thing About Stress” will by hosted by Kay Frances. Frances is a motivational humorist and the author of “The Funny Thing About Stress; A Seriously Humorous Guide to a Happier Life.” She has shared her message of self-care with a side of humor for more than 30 years in 40 different states.

“One of our members had been at an event and heard Kay speak,” Schultz said. “She thought she was very humorous and inspiring. I think everyone experiences stress at one point or another in their professional and personal lives, but how do we address it? Kay really is addressing it with humor. The little things in life can build up, but we can learn to manage our stress before it manages us.”

The event will include breakfast and networking. Tickets are $15 for BCCC members and $20 for non-members.

“We have women from all stages of their career path, from Boone County and beyond coming to our events,” Schultz said. “We encourage women to invite co-workers, family and friends to join these events.”

RSVP by Sept. 25 at boonechamber.org.
