Thompson agreed to a plea that would place him on probation while he completes alcohol counseling and pays the associated fines and costs.

John Kautzman, Thompson’s attorney, said the plea is standard for a first offense of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Thompson’s license also will be suspended for what Kautzman calls a “short term,” crediting back to the night of his offense.

“Generally, he’s committed to going forward and putting this unfortunate incident behind him,” Kautzman said.

Thompson was arrested following a July 27 crash where Thompson’s Infiniti rear-ended a Jeep Liberty heading northbound on Keystone Avenue just south of 96th Street. The crash caused the Jeep to hit another car and roll over. Thompson took a breathalyzer test on scene, which showed his blood alcohol content at .126 percent.
