Chamber of Commerce returns with next month’s Share the Love event

The Westfield Chamber of Commerce will return with its annual Share the Love nonprofit open house-type event, in lieu of its February luncheon, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Nest at Grand Park Events Center, 19000 Grand Park Blvd.

Twenty-five to 30 nonprofits will set up in the event center.

“We want to recognize what impact the nonprofits make on our community. We believe the nonprofits add a lot to the overall fabric of our community,” Westfield Chamber of Commerce President Nick Verhoff said. “We also want to establish a relationship between the business community and the nonprofit community, because many of the nonprofits depend on the business contributions in order to carry out their causes.”

Verhoff said the luncheon will be more of a walking lunch than a sit-down lunch.

“We will feed them, and then they can go right out into the main area where they can visit with the nonprofits,” Verhoff said. “It will be sort of a conference-type setting in the sense that each nonprofit will have their own table, and participants can go from table to table to spend as much time or as little time with the nonprofit they would like to.”

Unlike previous year, Verhoff said the luncheon won’t include speakers.

Most of the invited nonprofits are from Westfield, but some, like Janus Developmental Services, are based outside of Westfield. But Verhoff said all participating nonprofits are members of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce.

Verhoff said members of the community, not just the business sector, can benefit from the event.

“I would invite the general community members, too, and not just the business community because the impact these nonprofits make in the community, a lot of the beneficiaries are community members,” he said.

Share the Love luncheon sponsors are Community First Bank of Indianapolis and EdgeRock Development. Admission is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. For more or to register, visit westfield-chamber.org.
