Zion Nature Center announces March programs

The Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech St., recently announced its March programs and events. All events take place at the nature center. For a full list of events, visit zionnaturecenter.org

What: Camp registration opens – Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration must be completed in person; mail-in registration will not be accepted. Children must be correct age at start of their camp. Camp fees are non-refundable. Registration forms are available at www.zionsville-in.gov/summercamps or picked up at the Zion Nature Center.

When: 9 a.m. March 2

Cost: Varies per camp

 

What: Starting the Season: First steps to creating a bountiful garden. Learn tips and tricks for starting your plants both indoors and outdoors. Registration is required as space is limited. Register at zionnaturecenter.org.

When: 7 to 8 p.m. March 5

Cost: Free

 

What: Frog Songs & Salamander Wiggles: Join Park Naturalist Mindy Murdock in exploring frogs and salamanders. Register at www.zionnaturecenter.org.

When: 1 to 2 p.m. March 9

Cost: Free

 

What: Search for Green Dog Walk: The walk will be through the Zion Nature Sanctuary. Dog-friendly items will be available in the nature center afterward.

When: 1 to 2 p.m. March 16

Cost: Free

 

What: When to Break Up with Your Plant: If you are unable to decide if a plant you are having trouble with needs special care or should be replaced, attend this event. Myrene Brown of Myrene’s Garden will present the program. Registration is required. Space is limited. Register at zionnaturecenter.org.

When: 7 to 8 p.m. March 20

Cost: Free


What: Certified Wildlife Habitat Workshop: Aaron Stump, Habitat Programs Manager with Indiana Wildlife Federation, presents a unique educational opportunity for individuals interested in protecting the natural beauty and local wildlife of Indiana. Register at 
zionnaturecenter.org.

When: 7 to 8 p.m. March 27

Cost: Free

 

What: A Home for Toad: Toad abodes can be attractive additions to the garden, and they also provide a safe home for toads. Registration is required by March 28. Space is limited. Register at zionnaturecenter.org.

When: 1 to 2 p.m. March 30

Cost: $3 per toad abode
