On May 16, a Next Generation Dunkin’ Donuts shop opened at the corner of Allisonville and 116th Street in Fishers.

This store is the brand’s first Next Gen location in Indiana. It is at one of the area’s busiest intersections. Fishers’ other Dunkin’ Donuts store is at 8942 E 96th St.

District Manager Rodd Papalko said Next Gen Dunkin’ Donuts is a rebranding of sorts.

“You know, times are changing,” Papalko said. “Dunkin’ started to realized that the coffee market is moving to millennials, so we’ve kind of rebranded. We asked our customers what they want, and they told us, ‘We don’t want that carnival look you used to have, we want a softer look.’”

Papalko said Dunkin’ Donuts leads America in the sale of drip coffee, followed by McDonald’s. Starbucks is No. 1 in the espresso industrey. To compete in the latter market, Dunkin’ has introduced new espresso drinks at a lower cost and higher volume than Starbucks.

The Next Gen Dunkin’ store offers mobile-order pick up through a smartphone app. Customers can pick up pre-ordered items on a shelf at the store. The app allows customers to pre-order food and drinks, redeem rewards associated with their account and search for locations or use gift cards.

The new location will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
