Where to go: Daredevil Food Hall
Address: 2721 E 86th St., Indianapolis
What to get: Steak loaded fries
Mike G’s take: The 2017 and 2018 Indiana Brewery of the Year Daredevil expanded in January 2019 and open its first food hall, an emerging concept of an open environment where people can eat, drink and congregate at their leisure. When it comes to beer, I am an IPA drinker, Daredevil’s Lift Off is my favorite thing to drink right now, so it was good to sample some others and the amazing food.
What I tried:
• Steak-loaded fries – garlic French fries with shaved prime rib, queso, caramelized onions and topped with giardiniera pepper mix. This was like a Philly cheesesteak on fries instead of bread. The variety of flavors made it my favorite.
• Hot chicken wings – Wings fried to perfection tossed in kung pao sauce, sesame and green onion. They also are available in traditional Buffalo sauce with blue cheese and celery.
• Brewery cheeseburger – house burger with everything: lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, remoulade and American cheese. Cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth.
• Spark Plug Shandy – a specialty drink that has the Lift Off IPA and summer shandy, giving it a nice grapefruit taste and reminds you of a refreshing mimosa.
There is something on the menu for everyone. I was shocked that it was not just bar food but actually gourmet dishes. The menu includes social plates for sharing. In addition, there are burgers, sandwiches and salads. My favorite part of the menu is the beer-pairing suggestions with food.
