A Fishers resident is trying to make a difference in the community when it comes to finances.

Allen Duros, a financial advisor with Edward Jones whose office is at 8049 North County Rd. 600 West, Suite 102 in McCordsville, created a Coffee Club for residents to ask questions about money-related issues.

Residents meet periodically to seek Duros’ advice.

“Long story short, essentially what was happening is I was just getting lots of questions,” Duros said. “I sat down and thought about maybe not only to our clients, but there’s a need in our community just to provide a sounding board, just an opportunity for people who have questions and just want a bit of education just on the general basics.”

Some common questions Duros has fielded include when will the next recession arrive. or how much savings is required for retirement.

At Coffee Club, attendees sit at a circular table and Duros kicks off the meeting by asking “What’s on your mind?” Then, he said, the group generally covers one to two topics.

The program started approximately six months ago. The next club meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 at McCordsville Town Hall, 6280 W 800 N.

“I definitely feel the people who do come appreciate it because really it’s just an opportunity to educate,” Duros said.
