Fishers Parks and Recreation plans fall events

Fishers Parks & Recreation has announced a variety of fall events, ranging from farmers markets to shopping opportunities and fall camps.

“Everything that we do at the parks department, we try to bring the community together,” said Marissa Deckert, assistant director of Fishers Parks & Recreation. “It’s such a cool thing to put on these events and see thousands of people from the community come out to celebrate something that we’re doing.”

Fishers Parks & Recreation is presenting the following events for fall:

Fishers Farmers’ Market 

The free event will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Oct. 26 at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, 6 Municipal Dr. The Fishers Farmers Market features more than 50 local vendors each weekend along with live entertainment, foods and drinks.

Fall break camps

Fishers Parks & Recreation’s Fall Break Camps will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Oct. 14-18 at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve, 10410 Hague Rd. Cost is $100. Children ages of 5 to 10 can explore Ritchey Woods, carve pumpkins, participate in a costume party, attend a cookout and more. Register by Oct. 4 at playfishers.com/Camps.

Boo Bash

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Central Green, 1 Municipal Dr., Fishers Parks & Recreation is presenting a free trick-or-treat event called Boo Bash. With 70 participating vendor booths, the event will include a scavenger hunt, giveaways, a Monster Market during the Fishers Farmers Market and more.

Veterans Day Ceremony

The free event will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 at the City Hall Auditorium. A Veterans Day Ceremony will honor veterans.

Shop Fishers

On Nov. 30, Shop Fishers encourages shopping at and supporting local businesses during Fishers’ annual day-long celebration of Small Business Saturday. There will be special deals and promotions at local businesses, restaurants and the Fishers Farmers Market.
