Hamilton East Public Library in Fishers and Noblesville has some innovative events coming next month.

The Fishers branch, 5 Municipal Dr., will conduct NaNoWriMo Come Write In. NaNoWriMo, short for National Novel Writing Month, is a nationwide challenge tasking writers to write 50,000 words of a novel during the month of November. HEPL Fishers will play host to the write-in from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 2.

“It’s going to be a laid-back sort of NaNoWriMo kick-off where writers can network with other NaNoWriMo participants,” Adult Engagement Coordinator Danielle Acton said. “I’ll have a survival packet each can take home with them with writers’ pep talks and things they can do to organize their outline and characters and plot lines. They can share ideas and tips with each other or simply have a quiet place to work.”

Light refreshments will be available. The event is free but registration is required.

“It brings people together to make connections and share ideas and help one another and get inspiration from other people,” Acton said.

The Noblesville branch, 1 Library Plaza, will conduct a Craft Cider 101 event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 6 featuring Wes Martin, head brewer at Great Fermentations in Indianapolis.

“We have also worked with him in the past. He had a brew-your-own-beer at home at the how-to festival last month,” Acton said. “He goes through the whole process for the how-to cider-making process, the ingredients needed, what kind of yeast and all the equipment you need to do it at home, the technique and the bottling strategy.”

Cider will not be made or served at the event. The event is free but registration is required.
