Letter: Get out and vote

0

Editor,

I urge voters to get out and vote. It is your fundamental right to cast your ballot. It does not matter how small or big the election is, it should always matter to you to have your voice heard and to get out and vote.

I want people to look past all the mud-slinging happening in politics from the national level down to the local level. I, for one, am tired of it and I hope that you are, too. Why can’t a person run for office without being attacked with name-calling or false accusations? We teach our kids to ’do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ Why does that get lost when you decide to run for office? I think it is horrible that adults publicly bully on stage or on social media. I have witnessed public bullying, false accusations and name calling for too long and I am tired of sitting back and not saying anything.  This needs to stop.

I am Kate Snedeker’s friend and let me tell you who Kate Snedeker really is … and then you can go out and vote on what you know is truth verses rumor.

Kate is (running as an independent candidate for District 5 and is) stern and tells people what she thinks. Believe me, some people may call this something else, but I call this honesty.

Kate is a doer and puts people first. Kate has spent a good decade involved in this community, investing her time and talents. Kate’s volunteer services expand past our community for so many positive organizations like animal conservation missions, trauma and critical care programs and so many more. Kate for Council is a true servant at heart.

Kate is a rooted Republican running as an Independent. This should not be an issue since many have run for office on the Independent ticket that were Republicans and won. I find it disappointing that for this race, it has been a big issue. However, this does not bother me because Kate’s history tells me she is a Republican. Kate has worked countless hours on Republican campaigns, walked hundreds of miles knocking on doors for Republican candidates and spent thousands of her own dollars supporting Republican candidates. Let’s look past party affiliation and truly vote for the person that most aligns with your core values.  Kate has always been fiscally responsible and will ensure that she speaks on behalf of the Westfield residents. She wants to see smart growth for our wonderful city.

Kate for Council is a Republican running happily on the Independent ticket. Kate for Council is the right person for the job.

Danielle Carey Tolan, Westfield
