The Center for the Performing Arts is now accepting online registrations for “Take Center Stage at the Palladium.” This day-long extravaganza, co-sponsored by Vectren, is intended to fill the concert hall with back-to-back musical performances. Registration is open to all ages and skill levels.

“Musicians are eager to experience this state-of-the-art hall on stage,” said Steven B. Libman, President and CEO. “We anticipate performers from all over the state to ‘Take Center Stage at the Palladium.’ The Palladium was built to be a concert hall for all and Community Day will showcase what that means.”

Interested musicians are required to register online at www.TheCenterForThePerformingArts.org. Musicians will submit a 100-word essay describing why they are ready to “Take Center Stage at the Palladium.” Auditions are December 28 or December 29. Then, selected performers will be notified on January 7 via email if they have advanced to perform on Community Day on January 22.

Musical acts selected to “Take Center Stage at the Palladium” must be capable of carrying their own equipment onto stage and will be required to set-up within five minutes. The Palladium will provide microphones and a piano. Registration is limited to 200 online submissions.

The Palladium’s grand opening week is January 22-30, 2011. The public celebration will begin with a ceremonial ribbon cutting January 22 at 11 a.m. followed by “Take Center Stage at the Palladium,” co-sponsored by Vectren.

The emphasis of the grand opening week will be on community involvement. The opening week celebration runs the gamut – from community days and public lectures to classical concerts to a black-tie fundraiser gala. Check www.TheCenterForThePerformingArts.org for the complete list of events.
