Carmel Police Department makes burglary arrest

On May 2, 2011 at approximately 6:45 am the Carmel Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on Millgate Ct.  A subject entered the garage and was attempting to steal items out of a vehicle.  The homeowner walked into the garage as the crime was occurring.  He confronted the suspect and a fight broke out.  A second suspect entered the garage and attacked the homeowner from behind.  Both suspects fled the area on foot.  Police arrived and established a perimeter and began a search using a police K9.  The suspects were described as a White male and a Hispanic male in their early twenties.

The Hispanic male was located a short time later on Rix Ct.  He attempted to fight the arresting officer and was bit by the police K9 before he was taken into custody.  He was transported to Carmel Saint Vincent Hospital where he was treated and released back into police custody.

During the investigation, the White male’s name and address were discovered.  Officers went to the address; however, there was no answer at the door.  A search warrant was in the process of being obtained when he came outside and was taken into custody without incident.

Suspect 1: Shane Henderson, 20 year old White male from Carmel.

Charges: burglary and theft. Bond set at $15,000

Suspect 2: Edgar Aguirre, 20 year old Hispanic male from Westfield.

Charges: possession of stolen property, battery, battery on law enforcement, resisting law enforcement, and residential entry.  He is being held with no bond.
