Dixie Packard has announced her candidacy for Hamilton County Treasurer in next spring’s primary election.
Packard was elected Clay Township Assessor in 1994 and continues to manage the Clay Township Assessing Office. The current treasurer, Kim Good, is nearing the end of her second term in office and is ineligible for a third.

“I established the first satellite assessor’s office in Carmel and feel this experience has provided the background in the assessing and the taxation process to enable me to fulfill the duties of treasurer,” Packard said in a release.

A lifelong resident of Carmel, Packard graduated from Carmel High School and attended Indiana State University. She also is a member of Carmel Friends Church, Carmel Rotary Club, the Brookshire Village homeowners’ association board and is a longtime precinct committeeman and former president of the Carmel Clay Republican Club.

“I have been involved in public service in this community most of my adult life,” she said. “I know Hamilton County and its people’s wishes for good government.  This has been a commitment I practice every day in my current position.  If elected I will continue an accessible and professional approach in the treasurer’s office.”
