Barry Chapman passes away at age 69

Barry L. Chapman, 69, passed away on January 9, 2012 at his home in Carmel. He was born October 28, 1942 in Hammond,Indiana to the late H.W. and Katherine Marie Chapman.

He was a graduate of Hammond High School and received his Bachelors degree from Indiana University and his MBA from University of Pittsburgh. Barry was a Manager, Power and Utilities at Rolls Royce (formerly Allison) where he received a National Environmental award.

He was a member of Acacia fraternity, Ducks Unlimited and Kentucky Colonels.

In his younger years Barry enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing with his family.

He also loved following the scouting and athletic endeavors of his children.

Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. In later years he played in a golf league with colleagues. Barry and hiswife, Liz, had many hobbies that they enjoyed together; they loved to ballroom dance, attend film festivals and cook. They also grew vegetables on their farm in Hamilton County and participated in the Fishers, Binford, and the Broad Ripple Farmers Market where he was recognized by hisnotable cowboy hats he wore. He will be truly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Kirk and Wes Chapman; daughter, Liza Chapman; granddaughter, Madeleine Chapman.

A graveside committal service will be held Saturday, January 14, at11:30 a.m. at the Carmel Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at Radiant Life Christian Church starting at 1:00 P.M.
