Wild River Nursery to serve gardeners’ needs

Fishers residents are beginning to prepare lawns – just as the town’s newest nursery, Wild River Nursery, is preparing its own property.

Owned by Janekay Thomas and Susan Himmel, the business, located at 13279 E. 126th St., is designed to service all hardscaping and softscaping needs in Fishers.

WildRiverNursery is stocked with more than 300 grown trees averaging 25 feet each, and is expecting smaller container trees to arrive soon. In addition to the basic necessities a nursery provides, like trees and shrubbery,WildRiveris aiming to be the primary source for hanging baskets and potted plants for Fishers.

The nursery is also a source for more offbeat gardening needs. Fairy gardens, terrariums and container gardens are already in full bloom this season. In addition, a full supply of pottery, candles, birdhouses, bird feeders, garden tools, wreaths and clothing are available in the gift shop and garden center.

But the tangible gardening necessities are only the beginning of what Wild River Nursery hopes to bring to the community. A lake with a river across the property offers a place to host weddings or parties during the peak of the season. The property has 5,000 bulbs that will create a burst of color this season. Seating areas are nestled throughout the flowers to listen to the waterfall and birds.

A visit to Wild River Nursery also offers access to a full team of landscape designers and a master gardener on staff at all times. Thomas and Himmel describe themselves as “plant people” and strive to keep a staff with the same passion.

WildRiver Nursery’s grand opening will be April 14 from noon to 4 p.m. at the nursery, located at 13279 E. 126th St. For more information, visit www.wild-river-nursery.com.
