Westfield City Council approved a resolution to support an active community member and city employee.
The city employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been struggling with a sickness that has put a stress on the amount of the employee’s allotted sick days.
Mayor Andy Cook and Chief of Staff Todd Burtron introduced a piece of legislation to give the employee the opportunity to keep the employee’s health insurance and employment status.
Cook and Burtron asked the City Council to approve a resolution that would allow city employees to donate their sick days to their colleagues.
“Everyone loves the employee. The employee has been a huge and active part of the community for years and years,” Cook said.
City Council unanimously passed the resolution.
