Custom decorate a flowerpot for a great Mother’s Day gift.  We will provide all of the materials and you provide the creativity!  This drop-in program is sponsored by the Friends of Zion Nature Center

MAY 9              RAIN GARDEN WORKSHOP
Tuesday   1 p.m.
(Adults)     Zion Nature Center will host a rain garden workshop at the Zionsville Town Hall located at 1100 W. Oak Street.  The Zionsville Storm Water Dept. is creating a rain garden at Town Hall which will alleviate drainage issues as well as providea positive impact on water quality.  Myrene Brown, local rain garden expert, will present this workshop which will highlight a low maintenance rain garden with four season interest that will be attractive to humans and wildlife.  The excavation and hardscaping has been completed and a limited number of individuals will actually help plant during the workshop.
The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required by contacting Zion Nature Center at [email protected]or 317-873-8950.  Please indicate if you would like to attend the workshop and/or help with planting.  In case of rain, the program will take place at 1 p.m. on May 16.  Free.

MAY 12            HOOSIER RIVERWATCH BASIC TRAINING

(Ages 15 & up)
Join us for a Hoosier Riverwatch basic training workshop
at the Zion Nature Center located at 690 Beech St., Zionsville. The hands-on workshop introduces citizens and educators to water quality monitoring utilizing habitat, chemical, and biological assessment methods.Participants will become “Certified Volunteer Monitors”.Topics and activities are correlated to Indiana’s Academic Standards for Science and educators may also receive Professional Growth Points.  Please bring a sack lunch, water, creek shoes or waders and be prepared to be indoors and in the creek.  The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required by contacting the Natural Resources Education Center at[email protected] or 317-562-1338.

MAY 18            FROGGY FRIDAY
Friday  7  p.m.
(All Ages)
We will meet at the Zion Nature Center at 7 p.m. then we will head down to the wetland to see & hear some live frogs.  Nets and buckets will be provided for catch & release.  Dress for a mess!  Free.

MAY 19& 20 EXPLORING POND LIFE
Saturdays  10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sundays   12-5 p.m.
(All Ages)       Explore the wetland at the Zion Nature Sanctuary to discover its inhabitants.  Tadpoles, frogs, turtles and aquatic insects are among the creatures that you may discover!Stop by the Zion Nature Center to borrow our nets and buckets for this catch and release program.  Free.
