Crime Watch Alert from CPD’s Lt. Horner

0

The City of Carmel is continuing to see an increase in the number burglaries in our area. Most of them have been during daylight hours. It appears that the suspects initially knock on doors to see if homeowners are present, then force their way inside if they are not home. Once inside, they have been taking money, jewelry, and other valuables that can be removed from the home quickly.  If the homeowners do answer the door, the suspects say that they are selling magazines, looking for a lost pet, or create other false stories to explain their presence. If you witness this type of suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, please contact the police department immediately, so that the individuals involved can be identified.

Please make sure that you keep all of your windows and doors locked. If you have an alarm system, make sure that you set it before you leave, use your security lights at night and do not leave valuables in plain view.

Fighting crime is a team effort and we need your help to succeed.
