The Rivers Institute at Hanover College is pleased to announce that Bob Berwanger has been accepted to and completed the Summer Academy: Health Science Institute. During the Summer Academy (June 10-15) scholars experienced college life while still in high school. Hanover College’s respected professors taught a wide range of subjects that engaged and expanded students’ interests as well as deepened their knowledge of a topic.

As part of the Health Science Institute, Berwanger worked alongside medical professionals and Hanover’s faculty exploring health care careers and education using a state-of-the-art human patient simulator (robot).  Health Science Institute Scholars attempted to diagnose and then treat the patient before it was too late! This interactive experience allowed Scholars to work as part of a healthcare team to see how medical care is carried out, in both clinical and laboratory settings, as well as explore the range of health care careers in demand now and in the future. Berwanger will be a Sophmore at University High School this fall.
