Three Subjects Arrested for Catalytic Converter Thefts

image004 3On Monday August 27, 2012 Carmel Police Detectives were conducting surveillance on a white Mazda mini-van that had been identified as a suspect vehicle in thefts of catalytic converters.  The vehicle drove through several parking lots in Carmel and Westfield.  At approximately 4:00 PM the suspect vehicle parked next to a Mazda Tribute SUV on the south side of Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 14350 Clay Terrace Blvd in Carmel.  Detectives observed the individuals exit their vehicle and climb under the SUV.  A few moments later they heard the sound of a saw.  Detectives moved in and apprehended all three suspects.  They were identified as:

  • Andrew Lee Hurst, 38 year old white male from Indianapolis
  • Nona Schakel, 60 year old white female from Indianapolis
  • Jessica Anne Keen, 33 year old white female from Indianapolis

All three subjects were placed under arrest and charged with multiple counts of theft.  They were transported to the Hamilton County jail where they each remain on $35,000 bond.  This is an on-going investigation.  These three individuals are suspects in numerous thefts in Carmel, Fishers, Westfield and Noblesville.
