Maintaining its place as Indiana’s top Medicaid health plan for a third year in a row, MDwise ranked top in quality health care and health outcomes, service and member satisfaction based on standards set by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Released recently, the NCQA’s Medicaid Insurance Plan Rankings 2012-2013 placed MDwise 41st out of 227 Medicaid plans in the nation, an increase of four spots from last year.

As Indiana’s only nonprofit managed health care company exclusively serving many of the state’s most underserved citizens, MDwise has moved up in ranking for the past three years in row, allowing it to hold its position at the top of Indiana’s Medicaid health plans.

MDwise received the ranking for its Hoosier Healthwise plan, serving more than 270,000 members comprised primarily of pregnant women and children, as well as other individuals throughout the state. In total, MDwise serves nearly 300,000 Indiana members through its three plans.

“We are extremely proud to receive this top-ranking distinction for a third year in a row. It reiterates MDwise’s commitment to guaranteeing quality health care coverage and unrivaled customer service for our members,” said Charlotte MacBeth, president and CEO of MDwise. “As an exclusive provider to Indiana’s Medicaid population, it’s rewarding to know that our members are satisfied with our services and allowing us to help them get the coverage they need in a manner they deserve. We appreciate the work put in by our providers who take care of our members each and every day.”

The NCQA Health Insurance Plan ranking is based on satisfaction measures established by the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) and the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®), as well as the Consumer Assessment of treatment rankings and NCQA Accreditation standards scores.
