Two thumbs up for festivals

I don’t know what to think; I am able to give a thumbs-up to two Arts & Design District festivals.

The International Arts Festival was busy and so was the barber shop – we had about three new people just walk in, but the important thing is that my customers were able to be informed by our Facebook page about road closures and traffic was able to come in from the south to hit the District.

I didn’t get to talk to any other merchants because I was actually busy working this time, instead of walking around talking to them about why we’re all slow and trying to find a better way to do things around here. Maybe the citizens in Carmel are now being more informed and they are used to the festivities …  I’m not sure, but it’s working better. Rosemary and staff were kind enough to accommodate some requests and it ran smoothly.

This by far was Main St. Barbers’ busiest festival day in the six years we’ve been open. And the food – oh yeah – loving it! Lots of art and crafts to look at and people to talk to, plus my man Bruce at Old Town Tavern selling those frosty libations I love so much.

So now I’m a fan this year of Art Festival and Artomobillia. These festivals work and are fun for the community. Let’s keep the positive going and keep working together to build up this hot spot.
