The Noblesville Lions Club recently honored Joe Arrowood for his years of service with Noblesville Main Street and liaison with the club. The event at the Noblesville Moose Lodge included a “meet and greet,” dinner and “roast” of Arrowood.

“The Lions Club has been close to my heart all of these years. My relationship with the Lions Club goes way back – when I started working for the Boys & Girls Club,” said Arrowood. “It’s been a pleasure being a servant to the city all these years.”

Several local dignitaries attended and provided proclamations and awards to Arrowood including State Senator Luke Kenley (on behalf of Gov. Mitch Daniels), Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear and Riverview Hospital President Pat Fox. At the conclusion of the event, Arrowood was made an honorary member of the Lions Club. Arrowood’s youngest son, Brian, described the life lessons he observed from time around his father.

“As a leader, even if you don’t have a full understanding of a situation – pretend you do,” he joked. “My father told me, ‘You earn respect. You don’t ask for it, whine for it or beg for it … Dad, you’ve earned the respect of the community.”

Arrowood announced in August he would be retiring from Main Street at the conclusion of the year.

“Joe is Noblesville Main Street,” said Gail Nowicki, the organization’s president. “Main Street will go on but it will never ever be the same without Joe.”
