Professional tennis is coming back to the Indianapolis area for the third year in a row.

Former Carmel High School tennis star Rajeev Ram will take on his friend and fellow top-100 pro Brian Baker at EntouRAJ for Kids, taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the Five Seasons Sports Club, 1300 E. 96th St.,  Indianapolis.

Proceeds will benefit the Hamilton County Community Tennis Association’s college scholarship, tennis and reading programs. HCCTA has awarded more than $45,000 in college scholarships and donated more than 21,000 books about athletes who also are exemplary citizens to schools, libraries and hospitals in Indianapolis and across the country. The previous two events raised nearly $23,000.

Instructors from local tennis clubs and champion junior players will join Baker and Ram for doubles matches before Baker and Ram will play a singles match. The tennis will finish around 7 p.m. and a meet-and-greet with the pros will follow. Live and silent auctions will offer an array of tennis memorabilia, including a tennis racket signed by Rafael Nadal and a baseball cap signed by Roger Federer.

The HCCTA formed in 1990 to promote tennis in Hamilton County. The nonprofit’s goal is to get players of all ages and abilities interested in the sport while teaching life skills. HCCTA offers affordable tennis programs and college scholarships to student-athletes who give back to their communities and publishes the “Champion Citizens” book series, which tells the stories of champion athletes who also are philanthropists.

Ram is a 28-year-old Carmel resident who turned pro in 2004. During his time on tour, he has reached a career-high singles ranking of No.78 and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 33. This year, he won a doubles title in St. Petersburg, Russia, and advanced to the doubles quarterfinals at Wimbledon.

Baker is currently ranked No. 55 in the world.

Cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children 18 and under in advance. $25 for adults, $15 for children at the door. Tickets are available at entourajforkids2012.eventbrite.com. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
