Carmel – Alexander’s Ragtime Band

Heartland Truly Moving Pictures and the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Initiative have partnered for a new film series. This Friday, the 1938 film “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” starting Tyrone Power, Alice Fare, Don Ameceh and more will be shown at the big screen on stage at the Palladium, 1 Center Green. The film tells a story of a society boy who scandalizes his family by pursuing a career in Ragtime instead of “serious” music. Noblesville – Try it before you buy it

The Noblesville Parks Department is offering one week of selected classes on a free trial basis. This week, participants can try out classes of various programs for adults and children to find the right ones for them, before committing time and money to it. Westfield – Paws and Read

The very special program at 10:30 a.m. Saturday allows children to read a story to a book-loving dog at the Westfield Washington Public Library, 333 W. Hoover St. This activity increases a child’s confidence, generates excitement about reading, and makes learning fun. Dogs provide rapt attention and children read aloud without fear of criticism or interruption. Stop by the Children’s Desk to schedule 10 minutes of special time with a trained listening dog. Zionsville – Hopwood Cellars Winery Live Music

Hopwood Cellars Winery, 12 East Cedar St., will host live music provided by CPR Revival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday along with free wine tasting featuring their newest white wine, Royal Cwen. Free wine tasting is held 7 days a week and Live Music Friday is every Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m.
