Vote yes

Dear Editor,

This coming Tuesday, May 7, Noblesville voters will have the opportunity to VOTE YES for a referendum seeking funding for building projects for Noblesville Schools.  The project, if approved, will enlarge Noblesville High School to a capacity of 3200 students, which will let us bring the freshmen back in the main campus and manage enrollment growth into the next decade.  It will also let us make additions and renovations to the current freshmen campus, letting us move the East Middle School into that building.  That in turn allows us to sell the current East Middle School (aka the old high school) to the county to be used by Ivy Tech.  Ivy Tech is a state-supported community college and credits earned there transfer to IU and Purdue, allowing our current high school students and recent high school graduates to obtain college credit locally and cost-effectively.  Selling the building now allows Noblesville Schools to reduce the cost of needed renovations and additions, as NHS will reach capacity within the next three years, and to obtain funding when interest rates are below 2%.   The city, county, and Ivy Tech have all committed to this project, and passing the referendum is the last step to this important educational and economic development opportunity.  I encourage Noblesville voters to VOTE YES on May 7.

Respectfully,

Julia Kozicki
Secretary, Noblesville Schools Board of School Trustees
