136th-closure

Beginning Sept. 19 at 9 p.m., contractors with E & B Paving of Anderson and Gradex will close the left lane of the eastbound I-465 exit ramp to U.S. 31 to place temporary pavement. The ramp lane will remain closed at the top of the ramp to allow contractors to begin construction of a new flyover bridge. All turn lanes will remain open approaching the base of the ramp.

On Sept. 20 at 9 p.m., the right lane of eastbound I-465 will be restricted near Exit 31 to U.S. 31 as contractors place a temporary barrier wall along the shoulder. The restriction is expected to end by 6 a.m.

The intersection of 136th Street and Eglin Drive is expected to close Sept. 23 for approximately 60 days while crews construct a new roundabout.
The intersection is just south of Meridian Village Plaza. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on Rohrer Road and access to
Meridian Village Plaza is expected to remain open at all times. Traffic on eastbound 136th Street will be detoured to Smokey Row Road via Illinois Street, Carmel Drive and Old Meridian Street. Traffic on Rohrer Road will be detoured to 136th Street via southbound U.S. 31, Main Street and Illinois Street.

Also, access to the medical offices at 136th Street and Oakridge Road will remain open at all times.

The work is part of a $141 million contract for U.S. 31 interchange improvements at I-465 and new roundabout interchanges at 106th, 116th,
131st and 136th streets expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2015.

INDOT said drivers should expect off-road daytime construction along U.S. 31 and at the I-465 interchange. All work requiring restrictions on the highway and ramps will take place during overnight hours for the safety of workers and motorists and to minimize effects on traffic.
