The 2013 Governor’s Arts Awards ceremony was genuine, down to earth and the recipients were truly humbled. The event was conducted Sept. 26 at the Palladium. Michael Feinstein saluted Indiana’s Sydney Pollack, the late Hollywood director and producer, and musician John Hiatt was super entertaining and told stories about growing up in Indianapolis. But of all the people honored, Cynthia Hartshorn, the music teacher from Tech high school in Indianapolis, got the longest standing ovation.
