Road closures coming soon

Motorists who use Spring Mill Road and Illinois Street should be aware of a few closures coming this weekend and next week as the city’s Illinois Street project kicks into spring season just before the closure of a portion of U.S. 31 from Old Meridian Street to 136th Street that starts April 4.

Road crews will close down the intersection of 103rd Street and Spring Mill Road beginning March 31 for at least 3 days in order to install a storm sewer.

And Illinois Street, to the west of Ritz Charles and south of Carmel Drive, will be closed from 6:30 a.m. March 29 until sometime later in the evening March 29 in order to pave the roadway that was recently disturbed due to a storm sewer installation. This project is weather dependent.
The completion of this long-planned project is being coordinated with state transportation officials as much as possible to time various closures in such a way as to lessen the impact of the U.S. 31 project, which also begins in a little more than a week.

It’s important to note that local businesses along U.S. 31 will remain open during the project – and accessible by using local streets such as Illinois, Pennsylvania and Old Meridian streets and Rohrer Road.
