Two student author/illustrators received awards at the PBS Kids Writers Contest ceremony last week. Both students attend Pleasant View Elementary in Zionsville.

Cate Schrepferman’s book entitled The Snowbow earned second place in the first grade age group. Saylor Schuckman’s book entitled Party Night at the Zoo earned first place in the kindergarten age group and will advance to the national competition. The girls are seen here at the WIPB PBS Kids awards ceremony that took place in Muncie on May 20.

Each year, Indiana children in grades K-3 are invited to write and illustrate their own stories and enter them in the WIPB PBS Kids Writers Contest. Stories are judged locally with prizes awarded to first, second and third place winners. First place winners then advance to the national contest, where a panel of esteemed judges will rank the top 12 entries.
