Overnight lane restrictions on U.S. 31 in the already slow-moving portion between 146th and 161st streets will begin May 30. The restrictions are for the installation of reflective lane marking devices.
Motorists should expect lane restrictions in this area between 9 p.m. May 30 and 6 a.m. May 31.
In West Carmel drivers should expect eastbound 111th Street lane closures beginning May 31. The closure will be in place for the portion of 111th Street between Illinois Street and Tottenham Drive.
During this lane closure, crews will complete work on a nearby water main. Access to and from Tottenham Drive will be maintained via U.S. 31 during the closure.
The good news is that the northbound U.S. 31 loop ramp to westbound I-465 reopened May 29.
The US 31/I-465 interchange returned to its original configuration in which motorists traveling on southbound U.S. 31 who want to access eastbound I-465 will not stop at the signal, but continue with a constant green arrow.
Drivers traveling on northbound U.S. 31 who want to access the new westbound I-465 loop ramp will need to be in the right lane.
Signs are in place to guide motorists to the correct lanes.
