Obituary: John C. Craig

John C. Craig, 82, of Noblesville, died Oct. 7, 2014 at his residence. Born May 23, 1932 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Oliver and Wilhemina (Suplee) Craig.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Tri-State and proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserve. In 1990, he retired from Allison Transmission where he had been an engineer for 29 years.

He was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church, and formerly of Chapel Hill U.M.C. for more than 40 years. As past scoutmaster of Indianapolis Boy Scout Troop No. 494, he was very active in Scouting for 45 years. He held a membership in the Indianapolis chapter of the Scottish Rite and was a past member of the Lions Club, Chapel Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Maetta Craig; son, John E. (Beth) Craig; daughter, Catherine (Dan) Donahue; sister, Marylou Craig; step-son, Thomas (Cindy) Egbert; step-daughters, Elizabeth (Kevin) Potter and Ginni Viscardi; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one niece; and three nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Craig.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St., with the Rev. Jack Wolfe officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 9 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Rd., Noblesville. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
