John W. Henschen, 73, of Noblesville, died Oct. 6, 2014 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Born July 17, 1941 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Walter and Marie (Brudi) Henschen.

He worked in corn research for Stine Seed Company; and was an active member and Elder at Christ Lutheran Church in Noblesville. He proudly served his country as a captain with the U.S. Army, and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a 1964 graduate of Purdue University; president of Indiana Crop Improvement Association; and was active in the American Seed Trade Association and the Indiana Seed Trade Association.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Henschen, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1964; daughters, Kelli (Chad) Grothen and Amy (Doug) McCallister; grandchildren, Jacob and Emily McCallister and Amanda and Evan Grothen; sisters, Gloria Zorger, Marceil Burtch and Donna Zorger; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willard Henschen.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at Christ Lutheran Church, 10055 E. 186th St., Noblesville, with the Rev. Adrian Piazza officiating. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, and 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at the church. Graveside service and burial will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
