Kentucky man killed in early morning crash near Zionsville

Boone County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle crash at the 141 mile marker of I-65 early this morning, resulting in one death, another injured.

A 911 call at approximately 2:10a.m. stated an RV on Interstate 65 near Lebanon (141mile marker) had crashed.  For unknown reasons,the recreational vehicle left the interstate on the east side of I-65 and crashed into a wooded median. The four people inside of the vehiclewere part of a Christian based singing group called “The SouthmenQuartet”. They were on their way home from a prior singing engagement in Shipshewana, IN. Investigators are unsure the reason for the crash at this time.

The driver, Roy Bray, 61 of Trenton, Kentucky was pronounced dead at the scene. One passenger Jim Hefner, 72 of Albertville, AL was transported to Methodist Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Two other passengers, Johny Washburn, 61 of Gallant, AL and Donald Marr Jr. 39, of Albertville, AL were not injured. The Boone County F.A.C.T. team was called to the scene to reconstruct and investigate the crash. Other agency’s assisting the Boone County Sheriff’s Office were: Center Township Fire Department, Lebanon Fire Department, Witham Medics and the Lebanon Police Department.

At this time, the reason for the crash is still under investigation.
