Carl Carson Rahke, 91, of Carmel, passed away Nov. 6, 2014. He was born on July 12, 1923, in Indianapolis to the late Carl and Ava Whiteman Rahke. Carl married Ruthellen Johnson on April 24, 1949, and was a devoted family man for their 65 years of marriage. Before retiring in 1984, Carl was employed by Eli Lilly as a supervisor in the creative packaging division. As an employee of Eli Lilly, Carl was actively involved with other deaf employees using sign language. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Arthur “Hap,” and sister, Ruth.
Survivors include his sons, Robert (Diane) and Donald (Trish); grandchildren, Josh (Amanda), Will, Katie, Laura (Josh) and Andrew (Jane); great-granddaughters, Emma Rose and Evelyn Penelope; great-grandson, Ivan Andrew; sister, Mary Jane.
Family and friends gathered Nov. 15 in Carmel United Methodist Church. A burial in Crown Hill Cemetery followed the ceremony.
