Carmel High School loses to Ben Davis in game for Class 6A state championship

The Ben Davis High School football team rallied from a 17-0 deficit to beat Carmel 42-24 in the Class 6A state championship game on Friday, Nov. 28 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Giants had 42 unanswered points.

Carmel took a 7-0 lead on Chris Perkins’ 15-yard TD run on game’s first possession.  The Greyhounds made it 10-0 on Nick Stacey’s 21- yard field goal later in the first quarter.

Perkins’ 11-yard TD run gave Carmel a 17-0 lead. Ben Davis narrowed the deficit to 17-14 at halftime.

Ben Davis took a 21-17 lead on Dorian Tate’s 1-yard TD run with 6:31 left in third quarter. The Giants took a 28-17 lead on Kyle Castner’s 3-yard TD pass to Brennan Gillis.

Castner made it 35-17 on 3-yard TD run off a fake field goal attempt in the fourth quarter.
