“Let it go and let it grow,” said Lily Kessler of her new yoga studio, Blooming Life, which recently sprouted to life in a building at 30 S. Elm Street that once housed Zionsville’s fire station.

Classes are already underway with Vinyasa, lunch hour yoga, teen yoga and beginning yoga on the schedule. She plans to add Mindful Movie Nights, weekend workshops and global retreats and hopes to create to special workshops for police officers, firefighters and teachers.

“It’s a safe place to push boundaries – and fall sideways and not wear sexy yoga clothes,” she said, encouraging those who haven’t experienced yoga to give it a try. “This is not a place where you’re judged by how you touch your toes.”

The wooden posts and beams in the studio space create the sense of trees, reflecting Kessler’s commitment to being eco-friendly. She used Zionsville businesses almost exclusively in the reconstruction and design of the building.

The studio will celebrate its new beginning with a grand opening from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 31. The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music and an opportunity to donate to the HAWK Foundation, a local charity that primarily benefits children with special needs.

Kessler moved to Zionsville three years ago from Washington, D.C., where she worked in the public school system in addition to being a yoga instructor. Now she feels her teaching background has helped her create a solid curriculum in her studio that is “always evolving,” she said.
