Amanda’s City Chic Consignment is poised to get national television exposure from HGTV.

A Westfield couple, who are being featured by “House Hunters,” are customers of the Carmel consignment shop for furniture and home accessories on 522 South Range Line Road.

Amanda Newman, the store’s owner, said the Jan. 30 visit was by a “House Hunters” production crew of four people and the couple hunting for the house. The crew arrived an hour early and visited for a little more than an hour.

The couple is not allowed to give their names until the show is aired so Newman only knew them by the first names, but she did recognize them as being customers in the store before. Newman also knew their real estate agent.

“They are trying to place some furniture in their new home,” Newman said. “They wanted to shop re-sale instead of new. (The crew) spent some time walking around and getting familiar with the store. They looked for areas with the best lighting. When they were in, we had to be real quiet and turn the music off so there was no background noise.

“They recorded the couple shopping and measuring things. They did about three or four takes. Then just sat around and hung out.”

Newman said the couple put a few items on hold.

“They said the ‘House Hunters’ crew came in December and went around looking with them for houses,” she said. “They’ve settled on the house and have painted it.”

Newman said the crew took pictures of the store’s sign and it would be included in the credits. Newman said she was told the earliest the show will be aired is August.

Like most reality shows, “House Hunters” has strict rules on publicity.

“They said a waitress tweeted a picture and they found out right away and made her take it down or the restaurant’s part would be cut,” Newman said.
