Work continues on the City’s Illinois Street Extension project, west of U.S. 31. BeginningMonday, April 20, the project will kick into high gear, prompting the temporary closure of 106th Street.

The City will close 106th Street for approximately 60 days beginning Monday, April 20, weather permitting. The road closure will be for the reconstruction of 106th Street between existing Illinois Street and Spring Mill Road. This work includes a new roundabout at the realigned intersection with Illinois Street, just west of the current intersection.

A detour route using Spring Mill Road and Illinois Street will be in place for the entirety of 106th Street closure. Once the roundabout construction is completed, it will be opened to eastbound and westbound traffic on 106th Street and it is anticipated that north and southbound traffic on Illinois Street north of 106th Street will also be opened.

A second closure on Illinois Street will be put into place to tie in the new and existing Illinois Street alignments south of 106th Street. This closure will be in place for approximately 15 days. Details regarding that closure will be forthcoming.
