Letter: ‘Objection’ to Snyder’s thoughts on roundabouts

Editor,

I take objection to the response by Luci Snyder in this week’s Current issue regarding the Council candidates thoughts on Roundabouts. She states, “…we know the ones that we like more than the others. The ones we don’t quite like so much are the ones where you have to veer into them and those are the ones that automatically slow you down.” The purpose of those roundabouts she refers to is specifically designed to slow traffic down, like the ones that approach residential neighborhoods, such as 126th Street, Main Street and Smokey Road over Keystone. As an experienced highway construction professional and a Carmel resident, I would suggest that Ms. Snyder have a discussion with the city’s highway and transportation design engineers to have a better understanding of roundabout and traffic design.
