Information provided by Fishers Police Department

The Fishers Police Department is investigating an attempted residential burglary and several thefts from vehicles that occurred in the Windermere Neighborhood during the early morning hours of June 28.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 28 a resident of Fairwoods Drive called 911 to report an attempted break-in into the home. The homeowner described the suspect as a male wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants. The homeowner last observed the suspect running southwest in the direction of Bent Creek Court.

Fishers police officers responded and established a perimeter. A police K-9 was quickly deployed and began tracking towards Bent Creek Court. As the K-9 unit and support team arrived on Bent Creek Court they observed a silver Kia Forte passenger car leaving the area.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver stopped momentarily, but as officers approached the driver rapidly accelerated towards the officers. Fearing for their safety, an officer fired one round from his duty weapon towards the suspect vehicle. The vehicle continued fleeing. Officers were able to avoid being struck.

Later, the vehicle was observed traveling in the area of Glen Abbey Lane and Windermere Boulevard. Officers used their patrol cars to block the path of the suspect vehicle. Officers conducted a felony stop and safely detained two adults and three juveniles. No officers or suspects were injured in this incident.

All five occupants of the Kia were transported to the Fishers Police Department. After being interviewed it was determined that the suspects were not involved in the original burglary call. The driver and an adult passenger were arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. Two juvenile passengers were issued a summons for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by Minor “A” Misdemeanor and released to their guardians.

Investigators have obtained video footage of the person responsible for the thefts from vehicles. Anyone with information regarding this case should contact the Fishers Police Department at 595-3300. This case remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed in the future.
