Red Cross volunteers helping families after Tuesday’s flash flooding in Indianapolis area

American Red Cross volunteers are currently assessing damage to homes affected yesterday by flash flooding on Indianapolis’s west side.

Additional teams also will distribute clean up kits (buckets, mops, cleaning products) and snacks and water through the neighborhood as residents return home and begin the clean-up process. Caseworkers will go door-to-door to speak with affected residents to determine their need for Red Cross assistance for things like food, clothing, medications, and other essentials.

People affected by the today’s flooding are encouraged to contact the Red Cross at 888-684-1441.

With additional rain in the forecast, the Red Cross also encourages Hoosiers to prepare by following these flood safety tips and downloading the American Red Cross Emergency App at: http://www.redcross.org/news/article/Follow-Flood-Safety-Steps-as-Rains-Continue
