Joan Colby to read work at Poetry on Brick Street

Poetry on Brick Street will feature award-winning poet Joan Colby at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, 225 W. Hawthorne St. in Zionsville. Colby will read her work, which will be followed by a brief intermission and an open mic. The event is free and open to the public.

Colby’s poetry has been published widely in literary journals, including Poetry, Atlanta Review, South Dakota Review, New York Quarterly, The Spoon River Poetry Review, Prairie Schooner and more. She was awarded the Illiinois Arts Council Literary Award, Rhino Poetry Award, New Renaissance Award for Poetry and an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Literature, and several other awards and honorable mentions.

She has published 11 books and works as editor of the Illinois Racing News, a publication for the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Foundation.
