Meth distribution network dismantled in Boone County

The Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force, following a six month investigation, has dismantled an ongoing crystal methamphetamine network.  The operation, “Glass House,” was initiated when a large influx of crystal methamphetamine was noted in the area.  One of the street names for the drug is “glass.”

To date, detectives have arrested 17 individuals, who were directly involved in the network.  During the investigation, detectives seized over 3lbs of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $115,000, over $8,000 in U.S. currency, and two firearms.  Detectives found the flow of methamphetamine in Boone County to be coming from an out of county resident who had previous ties to Boone County.

The investigation led to the arrest of the suspected source of methamphetamine, Douglas Veach.  Veach was found to be in possession of over two pounds of crystal methamphetamine and a firearm when he was arrested on Aug. 6 at the Coverdale Holiday Inn Express.

The arrest of Veach was aided by officers from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.  Veach may be facing federal charges as a result of this investigation.
