Zionsville residents and visitors now have an easy, free way to obtain information about the town.

The town of Zionsville and the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce partnered to create a mobile application called Zionsville, Indiana available for both Apple and Android smart phones. The app was created through BlueBridge. The Fishers-based company also created an app for Zionsville Community Schools and it has designed apps for several municipalities.

“It is a tool for residents and businesses and visitors to find out information about our businesses, our events going on in town, any contact information and real basic information about all the things around in Zionsville,” said Joe Rust, IT Director for the town of Zionsville. “I really think this is a good tool for everyone around here to have on their phones.”

Rust also said that the town and the Chamber of Commerce have the ability to send push notifications, meaning they can alert people of changes or emergencies through the app.

“The app’s got the ability to receive notifications from us at the town or the chamber so we can get information out about anything that needs a real time update,” Rust said. “A good example of that would be an accident around town somewhere that closes a road for a while or a weather emergency of some sort.”

The free app launched Aug. 1. The town and the chamber have worked on it since last December. The entire cost for the application was $4,900, which the town and the chamber split equally.

“If the chamber has an event coming up, they can send reminders out for those as well,” Rust said. “We have collaborated with them to make this work for everybody.”
