Love in the Name of Christ – or Love INC, as it is more commonly known – exists to pool resources from across Boone County to help those in need. Next week the nonprofit will boost its mission through its annual fundraiser, this year called Built on Love.

The Sept. 10 event at Zionsville Fellowship will include a banquet, silent auction and the opportunity to learn more about the organization. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. The silent auction will feature items from local artisans, gift cards, themed baskets and more.

Love INC works to unite local businesses, churches, sports teams and individuals to serve the unique needs of the community. The organization has addressed unexpected needs such as a sudden job loss, medical condition or other emergency.

“This is not just another handout. It is not a government agency, but a ministry of people helping people through the love of Christ,” said Kyle Kincaid, Love INC volunteer and office manager at New Hope Christian Church, one of about 35 churches in Boone County involved in the program.

In addition to short-term help, mentors and volunteers have been put in place to teach basic life skills such as budgeting, meal planning and computer skills. The goal is to teach a reliance on the hope of Christ rather than depending on the government to meet individual needs.

“It means hope for the future,” Kincaid said. “It means a commonality of churches coming together to help people improve their lives.”

Tickets for the banquet cost $35 per person or $280 for a table of eight. To register, visit www.loveincbc.org or call 765-482-6152.
