It’s hard to give a restaurant a second chance after a bad experience, but when it come to New York Pizza Garden near 126th Street and Ind. 37, this restaurant deserves a whole other look.

Recently taken over by Fishers resident Zack Shamia, the new owner has completely turned this once dreadful pizza parlor into an exceptional place for a pie.

“This place had a very bad reputation,” Shamia said. “It was not clean; there was no customer service; it was really bad. We purchased it and we took over Sept. 1. We brought the sales from $30 a day to $500. That’s with no advertisement. This place was completely filthy. If you come over here now it’s spotless clean.”

While the name of the restaurant is still the same, Shamia ensures that the restaurant has completely changed, including the menu. Shamia’s biggest menu offering is his two for one deal.

“It’s completely different ownership and we changed the recipes. Everybody says it’s gotten better. We changed the menu,” he said. “This is not the same menu. We have chicken fingers, chicken wings, Philly cheesesteaks, calzones, lasagna and we have gyros. The two for one, people really enjoy that. We have a lunch special as well.”

In less than a month, Shamia has already attracted a local church for weekly deliveries. In the future, Shamia is looking to offer his pizza to other parts of the Fishers community, as well.

“We’re serving churches now. We have church that buys from us every Saturday,” Shamia said. “We’re aiming to work for the YMCA and Skyzone for kids.”
