By the end of this week, the roundabout connecting 191st Street and U.S. 31 will be open to traffic. Starting Sept. 24, southbound ramps on the west side of the interchange will be opened. Northbound lanes are expected to open Sept. 26.

Once the roundabout is fully open, the 196th Street traffic light will be removed. After that is completed, the immediate interchanges with access to U.S. 31 will be at 191st Street and Ind. 38.

After the 191st Street and U.S. 31 roundabout opens, all interchanges on U.S. 31 will be open in the City of Westfield.

In addition to the newly accessible interchange, by the end of October all U.S. 31 lanes are expected to be open, placing the city in its final stages for the freeway.

“I’m excited to see this interchange open to the public, and to get one step closer to the completion of the new U.S. 31 in Westfield,” Mayor Andy Cook stated in a press release. “We look forward to the improved U.S. 31 corridor and the opportunities it will bring to our region and our state.”
