According to a press release from the Indiana Sept. of Transportation, Sept. 28 before 6 a.m. the intersection of 116th and Pennsylvania Streets in Carmel will be closed for the construction of a roundabout. The closure will last 60 days.

Although access to 116th street from U.S. 31 will not be possible east of U.S. 31, access to 116th Street west of the highway remains open.

INDOT stated they hope to open the new 111th Street bridge over U.S. 31 on Sept. 26. Access across U.S. 31 will be available at the new 111th Street bridge and 126th Street during the closure of 116th street.

Access to U.S. 31 is still available through I-465, 106th Street, 116th Street west of U.S. 31, Old Meridian Street, 131st Street and 136th Street.

In addition to the intersection closure, after 9 p.m. Sept. 25, restrictions at 116th Street will include left lanes going northbound and southbound on U.S. 31 and stops for up to 20 minutes east and westbound across 116th Street and U.S. 31. These restrictions are due to bridge beams being set at the 116th Street interchange.
