A new Indiana University Health urgent care clinic opened in Zionsville’s Stonegate district this month, the fourth clinic in an ongoing effort to expand IU Health facilities in Indiana.

The new clinic, at 6866 W. Stonegate Dr and co-located with a new IU Health Primary Care office, is designed to address minor issues such as severely sore throats, flu, colds, fevers and minor cuts. On-site digital X-ray services are also available for simple fractures or sprains. Preventative care services like flu shots and physicals are also offered. IU Health representatives stress the new clinic is not designed for major emergencies and are encourage such patients to call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

“All of this is really about making IU Health more accessible in the greater central Indiana area, and certainly Zionsville is a growing community,” IU Health System Clinical Services President Ron Stiver said. “That’s really the theme of urgent care, making it more accessible.”

Stiver added in a press release that the urgent care clinic will ideally provide an alternative for unnecessary trips to an emergency room, an issue many low-income individuals face.

According to IU Health, the Stonegate clinic is staffed by a board-certified physician skilled in treating the aforementioned maladies, as well as allergies, sprains, fractures and more. The staff also includes a nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, radiology technician and medical assistant.

On-site care is available from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and  8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Stiver added as the primary care provider sees growth in patient intake, urgent care hours may be extended.

IU Health opened three additional clinics in Greenwood, Lawrence and Brownsburg in 2015.
